I bought my first scooba in December of 2007 I am now on my third replacement. They have all failed. irobot acts as if this is really unusual and other people do not have these problems. But reading blogs online it seems pretty commonplace.
When I bought my scooba it came with a little red roomba. This worked good until recently. I decided a month ago to upgrade to the new 500 series roomba. It failed within a month and they sent me a replacement but a lower model so it does not work with the remote control which is why I upgraded in the first place. The little red roomba now goes in circles and they told me to send it back.
One other big problem is that I live in Hawaii and the shipping of these things back is expensive. I think I am totally getting the run around. I hope that another company comes up with a competitive product soon!
Unless you are prepared to buy at least two of each, one as a backup while the other is in the the shop and you don’t mind dealing with tech support A LOT because they do not take your word that it is hosed they make you tear it apart and try this and that until there are no more hoops then they tell you to Fed Ex it on your dime back to them. I would seriously consider not get attached to these things in the first place.
Sad but true.
Aloha
I feel your pain! I was stupid and went nuts buying 3 Scheduler Roomba’s and 1 Scooba. In the last year my 3 Roombs have all been replaced 4 times. YES, FOUR!!! They didn’t even last 3 months without the charging system dying. My Scooba made it 6 months and my battery had to be replaced. Now that its 2 months outside of my limited crappy one year warranty, the entire charging system when to he** and they want me to spend yet another $120 to replace my relatively new battery which works just fine but also the charger and cord. Oh yeah, because they don’t make the same charger anymore. This is the best idea out there but man, I hope they are not using the same charging systems in their government robots or our country is screwed!

I bought a refurbished scooba from woot in Nov. It never held a charge. I was within my 90 day warranty so they replaced the battery. That helped but there was still problems with the unit so they shipped me a new one. That seems to be working just fine for now. I have owned a roomba discovery for a few years. I use it every day and love it. Still using the original battery and charger. Sometimes the roomba goes in circles. I bang my hand against the front hitting the bumper and it straightens itself out. I was told to JUMP on the scooba if it gives you problems.Good Luck!
