News, Reviews and Information on iRobot Scooba

Lou isn’t happy

bought my irobot scuba last year. Its a great product …… when it works.
I first tried to order the product on-line. There were problems so I spoke to a customer service girl. I asked about the warranty and she said that it had a European warranty.
I ordered the product in the UK but we then moved to Slovenia (Europe). After 6 weeks the irobot stopped working. The green light wouldnt go off and I looked at the error whcih was check tank. I called IROBOT and was told that the warranty was not European and that I had to get the Robot back to the UK for Domotec to collect it. I posted it to a friend in the UK and it was collected. They returned the Robot saying they had replaced the tank.
The Robot worked for a month and then it happened again. This time they kept the Robot for longer. It eventally came back but the documents and box and cable were not with it. It also looked a bit worn but they said that the tank had been replaced again. Then, in September it broke for a third time. This time after posting it back to the UK another company collected it. But again, only replaced the tank. It has worked for three weeks but again its stopped, same fault, green light, check tank. I paid a lot of money for this and in total its only worked for 3 months out of a year and been repaired 3 times and its broken again. I have also spent over £150 shipping it back to the UK. I have had enough and want my money back. The product does not do what it says it does. I could of hired a person for less money to clean my floors than what its cost me so far.
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT… IT DOESNT WORK. I am so angry that they can get away with selling a high price product that doesnt work!

  1. I am in the same boat as most of these reviewers. I too have a Scooba that I loved until it stopped working. You guessed it ‘check tank’ light. I also was sorely disappointed that all IRobot would do is offer to sell me another one. The least they could do is actually have a repair center. For 100$ I might go with fixing it but the cost of a new one too much moola!!!

  2. I am joining the fed up with scooba club. Originally bought Sept 09. Worked well x 2 months then dies. Sent back - new replacement sent from digitest. Last month it dies again. Replacement sent from digitest - but get this - the replacement didn’t work and they had only sent ‘a refurbished’ model that waS FILTHY.And by filthy I mean dirty water in tank, front wheel not moving as clogged etc etc. Am now demanding refund. Disgraceful- not fit for purpose.

  5. this pdt totally sucks. I got it from its authorized distributor, in Singapore. That costs S$1300+. Do the conversion and u will know how much more irobot is charging. The check tank light comes non stop after 1 mth of use. Tried everything from sending to the service ctr and emialing them the issues. Give me all sorts of dumb excuses- the floor must be prefectly clean before use, must use salt to clean the tank, must not charge more than 4 hrs, then some time later, said must charge thro the night. Guess when their pdt sucks and they don’t have any brain to solve these issues, they give dumb excuses.

  6. I am also fed up with Irobot. I have purchase 4 scoobas and 2 roombas within the last 3 years. They have all quit working after a couple of months. I bought accessory kits, batteries, etc to try and fix them. Nothing worked! I finally called Irobot and they wanted to sell me a replacement scooba for $179.00. I said “I don’t think so” and that I will only buy from HS because of the lifetime warranty. Very dissappointed in this company!!!

  7. Scooba is really rubbish - vacuum-pump after usage of 3 weeks out of order. Thus, the dirty water is only dispersed on the whole floor. iRobot should be ashamed of such a low-quality-product (as the two Roombas I have are of much better quality and cost less).

  8. Do not buy iRobot products - I have a Scooba with a battery that runs out of power in 10 minutes, a Roomba vacuum that it very difficult to clean and a Dirt Devil that did not come with a remote control and the wheels get beat up if you use it on concrete. The batteries are far too expensive to replace on a regular basis.

  9. Can’t say I agree with you Betty. I’d avoid the Scooba but the Roomba itself is very solid after several generations of improvement. I run mine 2-3 times per week and have done so over a year. Battery still works great. Make sure you read the manual for proper battery maintenance, you probably left it uncharged for a week or two which will certainly kill it.
